Information current as at 09 March 2010. Important: Customers with Westpac packaged or switched credit cards or Westpac Group Employees are not eligible for this offer. Fees and charges are payable. Terms and conditions are available on request. Credit card applications are subject to Westpac's normal lending criteria. An additional card can be issued on the primary cardholder’s credit card account to any nominated person over the age of 16 years. All transactions using the additional card will be the responsibility of the primary cardholder. 1. The earning of Qantas Frequent Flyer points through the use of Earth or Earth Gold cards is subject to the Earth Conditions of Use (PDF 301KB) and through the use of Earth Platinum is subject to the Earth Platinum Conditions of Use (PDF 226KB). You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn and redeem points. Membership and points are subject to the terms and conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. A joining fee usually applies, but Westpac has arranged for this to be waived for new Earth, Earth Gold or Earth Platinum cardholders where card applications are received by 30 June 2010. Annual fees on Earth cards are subject to change and are currently: $75 for Earth, $125 for Earth Gold and $250 for Earth Platinum.
2. Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Awards are available on any flight with a QF or JQ flight number. The points required for Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Awards are variable and are only valid when quoted. There is no fixed relationship between the cash price charged by the applicable airline for a seat and the points required to redeem an Any Seat Award through Qantas Frequent Flyer. Not all special promotional fares are available as Any Seat Awards. Award flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advance booking requirements may apply). 3. This special rate is only available to customers who are applying for a new Earth, Earth Gold or Earth Platinum card and request to transfer the balance(s) from a non-Westpac credit card(s), charge card(s) or store card(s). This promotion is only available at point of application. Subsequent balance transfers will be charged at the standard purchase interest rate (currently 19.14% p.a. and variable) and will be treated as purchases with no interest free days applying to them. Payments made to your credit card account are first applied to any amounts transferred from other credit cards, charge cards or store cards under this promotion, before they are applied to any other purchase or cash advance amount. This means that the portion of your outstanding account balance that is subject to a lower interest rate will be paid off first. You will not gain the benefit of the interest free period on credit purchases until the full balance (including any balance transfer and any other promotional amount) is paid by the statement due date each month. After 9 months the balance transfer rate will switch back to your credit card's standard variable interest rate for purchases then applicable to your card account. Each balance transfer must be a minimum of $200.
4. Qantas Frequent Flyer points are not earned on cash advances and balance transfers (see Earth Conditions of Use (PDF 301KB) or Earth Platinum Conditions of Use (PDF 226KB) for what we regard as cash advances. This includes the purchase of gambling chips and traveller’s cheques and ATM withdrawals). You are not entitled to points in other circumstances see the Earth Conditions of Use (PDF 301KB) or Earth Platinum Conditions of Use (PDF 226KB).
5. Selected Qantas products and services are Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number) booked directly with Qantas; Qantas Club and Qantas Frequent Flyer memberships; and purchases from ‘Qantas Travel’ customer shopfronts. Please note you do not earn an extra point per $1 spent on purchases from Qantas Holidays, Hotels on qantas.com, Qantas Freight, Qantas Business Travel, Jetset Travelworld channels, Qantas Staff Travel or Jetstar flights and services. When you spend at least $500 on the selected Qantas products and services you’ll pay a fixed rate of 5.99% p.a. on those transactions. To activate this rate you must call us on 1300 762 284 and notify us after the transaction. From the date you notify us, the promotional rate will apply to that purchase. You will lose the benefit of the interest free days on all credit purchases where the closing balance (including any balance transfer and promotional amount, including any amount to which the promotional 5.99% p.a.fixed rate applies) is not paid in full by the statement due date each month. Prior to notifying us, the standard variable interest rate on purchases will apply to that purchase.
6. For Earth Gold: Complimentary travel insurance cover is only available for overseas trips of up to 3 months. The benefit of the cover only extends to the primary and any additional cardholder and their spouse and certain dependent children travelling with either the primary or additional cardholder. The return overseas travel ticket must have been purchased using your Earth Gold card prior to leaving Australia. This cover and the other insurance covers are issued by Zurich Australian Insurance Limited ABN 13 000 296 640 AFSL 232507 (Zurich) to Westpac Banking Corporation under separate Master Policies. Zurich is liable for separate risks insured under the terms of each of those policies. The benefits of the insurance covers are extended to Westpac’s cardholders (as third party beneficiaries) as complimentary benefits. The cardholder is under no obligation to accept the benefits of the cover and cover is subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. For the benefit of the various insurance covers to extend to the cardholder, the cardholder must comply with the insurance terms and conditions. Exclusions apply. No Westpac Group company has any liability in connection with the insurance policies. Policy wording may be obtained by calling 1300 762 284 or downloading the Earth Gold Insurance Conditions of Use (PDF 186KB).
7. For Earth Platinum: Complimentary travel insurance cover is only available for trips of up to 6 months. The benefit of the cover only extends to the primary and any additional cardholder and their spouse and certain dependent children travelling with either the primary or additional cardholder. The return overseas travel ticket must have been purchased using your Earth Platinum card prior to leaving Australia. This cover and the other insurance covers are issued by Zurich Australian Insurance Limited ABN 13 000 296 640 AFSL 232507 (Zurich) to Westpac Banking Corporation under separate Master Policies. Zurich is liable for separate risks insured under the terms of each of those policies. The benefits of the insurance covers are extended to Westpac’s cardholders (as third party beneficiaries) as complimentary benefits. The cardholder is under no obligation to accept the benefits of the cover and cover is subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. For the benefit of the various insurance covers to extend to the cardholder, the cardholder must comply with the insurance terms and conditions. Exclusions apply. No Westpac Group company has any liability in connection with the insurance policies. 8. On credit purchases only, where the closing balance (including any balance transfer and other promotional amount) is paid in full by the statement due date each month. Interest on cash advances is calculated from the date the transaction is debited to your card account.
9. The Earth Platinum Concierge Service is subject to the Earth Platinum Concierge Service Terms and Conditions (PDF 156KB).
10. An additional card can be issued on the primary cardholder’s credit card account to any nominated person over the age of 16 years. All transactions using the additional card will be the responsibility of the primary cardholder. As at 1 July 2009 additional cards do not incur annual fees. This is subject to change.
